2021 Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials.
遂に今年のスケジュールが発表されました。
去年のBMSTはコロナ渦で中止となりました。
毎年９月には翌年のスケジュールが発表されるのですが、去年からずっとコロナが続いている事で一切のアナウンスはされておりませんでしたが、昨日突然開催の表明がありました。
時は既に３月の後半、世界的に見てもコロナが収束しているとは言い難いですし、そうでなくともマシンのSHIPを考えると２ヶ月しか猶予はありません。
現地スタッフで、貿易を行なっているHINOさんに連絡をして現在のアメリカの状況はどうなのかをお聞きしたところ、通関に関わる空港の人員不足なのか、今までは直ぐに許可が出ていたのに最近は一ヶ月以上待たされる事があるそうです。加えて船のスケジュールも不安定との事。
言われて見ればアメリカからパーツを輸入する際でも、トラッキングが２〜３週間ストップしたままになる事も頻繁にありました。
コロラドに住んでいるGeneからも、もしもマシンをSHIPしたとしても、通関に時間がかかり、最悪レースに間に合わなければどうしょうもないから今年は見送った方が賢明じゃないかとの指摘も受けました。
現在渡米すると以前のように２週間の隔離が有るのか無いのかはこれから調べたいと思いますが、隔離があるのなら渡米は無理です。仮に自分はトータルで一ヶ月休めたとしても、同行してくれるチームクルーにそれは有り得ません。PCR検査を行い、その証明書を持っていればOK、というのであればハードルは下がりますが、、
幸いかどうか分かりませんが、皮肉な事にこのコロナ渦で、日本のオートバイ業界は逆に活気を帯びており、当業種に関わるメーカーさんやショップさんは有難い事に何処も多忙だと聞いています。当店もご多分に漏れず日々忙しくしております。当店で言えば、今のところGWまではほぼ予定が入ってしまっております。
まぁこれから大急ぎでレースの準備を行う、という事は不可能ではないと思います。
しかし、何よりも自分のモチベーションが全く上がりません。
正直今年もレースは無理だろう、と考えていましたし、実際コロナは収束していないので、何か心に引っ掛かるものがあります。
自分自身の車両でのレースは2014年を最後にストップしていますし、その後５年に及ぶ電気バイクでの挑戦は貴重な経験をさせて頂きましたが、個人的には不完全燃焼で終えており、またボンネビルの塩平原に戻る事を、誰よりも望んでいるのは確かです。

これからチームのクルーと話し合いたいと思いますが、多分、今年のレースは「見送る」んじゃないかと思います。
来年の世界情勢がどうなっているのかは誰にも分かりませんが、少なくとも現時点よりは世の中が平穏になっているんじゃないか？という希望を持ちたいと思います。
「レースあってのマルマス」、という自負が御座いますし、実際レース活動を続けてきた経験値を、お客様が買って下さっているからこそ今も商売が続けられている、と思っております。最高速への挑戦はもう終わった、とは一切思ってはおりません。そんなに簡単に諦められるものならば、どれほど気が楽か、、
兎に角、早急に今年のレースについて皆んなで話し合い、調べなきゃならない事は調べ上げて、近々ご報告させて頂きます。

Every year in September, the schedule for the next year is announced, but since the coronavirus has been going on since last year, there was no announcement at all, but there was an announcement suddenly yesterday.
The time is already in the latter half of March, and it's hard to say that the corona is under control in the world, and even if it's not, considering the SHIP of the machine, we have only two months.
The local staff contacted HINO, who is engaged in trade, and asked him about the current situation in the US, and he told me that he had to wait for more than a month recently, though he had been given permission right away, probably because of the lack of personnel at the airport involved in customs clearance. In addition, the ship's schedule is unstable.
Now that you mention it, even when importing parts from the US, the tracking was often stopped for 2 ~ 3 weeks.
Gene, who lives in Colorado, also pointed out that it would be wise to pass this year if shiped the Motorcycle, as it would take longer to clear customs and, in the worst case scenario, would be too late for the race.
I would like to check if there is a 2 week isolation as before when I go to America now, but if there is an isolation, I cannot go to America. Even if I could take a month off in total, it wouldn't be possible for the team crew to accompany me. If you do a PCR test and it's OK to have the certificate, the hurdle will be lowered.
I don't know if it's lucky or not, but ironically, the motorcycle industry in Japan is getting lively due to this coronavirus, and I hear that manufacturers and shops related to this industry are thankfully busy everywhere. Our shop is as busy as ever. In our shop, we have almost no plans until GW.
Well, I think it's not impossible to prepare for the race as soon as possible.
But above all, my motivation doesn't go up at all.
To be honest, I thought it would be impossible to race again this year, and in fact the corona has not converged, so I have something to worry about.
Racing on my own LSR has stopped since 2014, and while the next 5 years of electric bike challenges have been a valuable experience, I personally ended up with incomplete combustion and certainly more than anyone would like to return to the Salt Flats of Bonneville.
Every year, KUSHITANI refurbishes the lace gear, including the leather suit, and the money I personally receive from the sponsors is still pooled in my PayPal account.
(We also receive cooperation from Center-Roots, Custom-Works ZON, Three Miles TC, etc.)
I would like to talk with the team crew from now on, but I think they will probably pass this year's race.
No one knows what the world will be like next year, but at least the world is quieter than it is now. I want to have hope that.
I am proud to say "MARUMASU FOR A RACE", and I believe that our business is continuing now because our customers are buying our experience in racing. I don't think the challenge to the fastest is over at all. If you can give up so easily, how easy it is..
Anyway, we will discuss this year's race with my crew as soon as possible, find out what we need to research, and let you know soon...
